Our client, a highly regarded law firm in Greater Victoria, is seeking a dynamic Associate Counsel with expertise in Wills and Estates, Corporate and Commercial Law, Elder Law, and Residential & Commercial Real Estate. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated legal professional with a portable book of business to join a thriving, multi-generational firm. The position is structured on a fee-split basis and offers flexibility, including remote work options, office-sharing arrangements, and staffing support.

The Role: The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in Wills & Estates, Corporate & Commercial Law, and Real Estate Law. They will have a client-focused mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen ability to manage complex legal matters efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on Wills, Estates, and Elder Law matters, including estate planning, estate administration, and guardianship applications.

  • Advise on Corporate and Commercial transactions, including business structuring, mergers, acquisitions, and contract negotiation.

  • Oversee Real Estate matters, including residential and commercial purchases, sales, leasing, and financing.

  • Draft and review legal agreements, contracts, and corporate governance documents.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while growing your practice.

  • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the firm’s business development initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.

  • Active membership with the BC Law Society.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Wills & Estates, Corporate & Commercial, Family Law or Real Estate Law.

  • A portable book of business is required.

  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Business development acumen and a client-focused approach.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple files efficiently.

  • Comfort with remote work and digital collaboration tools.
